To Be Truly Seen
We're judged for what
we appear
and what others dont
know.
To be with the
"in" crowd
Opposed to being
alone.
To have the latest
brand
Or the best hair-do.
Dorky new glasses,
Same worn down shoes.
To the pets that we
own:
a dog or a cat.
from what we play
with:
a ball or a bat
If we get straight
A's
we're then labeled as
nerds,
and when we protest
it's igrnored; absurd
Dressed in baggy
clothing
yet have the kindest
soul.
Treated as a fraction
of a voice
and not as a whole.
The popular girl
everyone knows,
she hides herself
well.
We can not truly see,
that her home is her
cell.
We have no say
in what others
believe
unless we are heard
then we're left to
grieve.
We get judged by so
many,
every day and night.
To one day be truly
seen,
that would be a
sight.
